Richard Cannon - Dressing Room Attendant

Richard ‘Dicky’ Cannon, born March 1948, hails to be a Kentish Man being born in Sevenoaks and living there until he was 22. Out of his 60 years, 55 have been spent somewhere in Kent.
After careers in Advertising, Marketing, Retail and Railway management, Dicky took early retirement in 2000 to live a more self-reliant and frugal lifestyle and has built a very successful web site ‘Down the Lane’ about escaping the rat race and related subjects.
In his Ashford back garden he boasts his own “almost” self-sufficient vegetable patch, two Greenhouses and keeps rescued ex-Battery Chickens.
This has led to him appearing in two TV documentaries and various Newspaper articles. He is now busy writing regularly for some magazines and plans to publish a book in 2010..
His only Cricketing playing experience was back in the 60’s and 70’s playing in the ‘lower Teams’ with Sevenoaks Vine. But whilst his playing career remained static, he was lucky enough to have a few games alongside the likes of Chris Tavare and Paul Downton whilst they were rapidly rising to International level.
Both his Father, Lesley and brother Nigel played for the Vine 1st teams spanning many years.
Dicky joined Kent CCC in 2002 and started working as Dressing Room Attendant in May of that year. Although the job entails working from late March to early October, he can occasionally be seen off-season lending a hand behind the Bar in the Sports Academy.
